Bio

Evan Epstein is the founding Executive Director of the UC Center for Business Law San Francisco and an Adjunct Professor at UC Law SF, specializing in corporate governance. He is the creator of the VC-Backed Board Academy (VCBA), UC Law SF’s pioneering executive education program focused on governance for venture-backed companies. Additionally, Evan is a Lecturer in Management at Stanford Graduate School of Business for the Spring Quarter of 2025.

With over 18 years of experience advising founders, executives, directors, and investors in Silicon Valley and internationally, Evan has established himself as an authority on corporate governance. He regularly serves as an expert in litigation matters involving corporate governance and fiduciary duties, both in the United States and internationally.

In 2023, Evan was recognized among the most influential leaders in corporate governance by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), receiving the prestigious NACD Directorship 100™ award, an annual recognition of top governance practitioners and advocates.

Evan is also the founder and managing partner of Pacifica Global, a San Francisco-based corporate governance advisory firm. He hosts and authors the Boardroom Governance Podcast and Newsletter, where he shares insights on governance trends and best practices. Previously, Evan served as the Executive Director of the Arthur and Toni Rembe Rock Center for Corporate Governance, a joint initiative between Stanford Law School and Stanford Graduate School of Business. He also practiced corporate transactional law at a leading firm in Chile. Currently, he serves as Co-Chair of the Chile California Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering mutually beneficial relationships and knowledge exchange between Chile and California in both private and public sectors.

Evan earned his Law degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and holds an LL.M. (Master of Laws) in Corporate Governance and Practice from Stanford Law School. He also participated in the “Cycle du Diplôme” exchange program at Sciences-Po in Paris, France.
