Bio

Catz has served as chief executive officer of Oracle Corporation since 2014 and a member of the company’s board of directors since 2001. She previously served as president of Oracle and has also served as the company’s chief financial officer. Prior to being named president, Catz held various other positions since starting at Oracle in 1999. She served as a director of The Walt Disney Company as well as a director of HSBC Holdings plc. Prior to joining Oracle Corporation, Catz was at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, a global investment banking group (since 1986) where she was a managing director.

Catz is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Teaching Statement

Safra Catz is CEO of Oracle Corporation, where under her leadership, over 85 acquisitions have been completed within the last five years. She has extensive experience in the area of mergers and acquisitions at both Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (an investment banking group since 1986) and Oracle Corporation. Catz is a lecturer at Stanford Graduate School of Business, teaching Mergers and Acquisitions. She brings to this course a wealth of industry knowledge and practical experience. The course covers the basics of M&A, as well as some of the important lessons learned from the numerous M&A deals that Catz has advised on throughout her career.
