Communication

Successful leaders draw on communication skills to share their vision, build trust with potential investors, generate support for their initiatives, and inspire employees to act. Their effectiveness comes from their ability to communicate with authenticity, confidence, and passion.

At Stanford GSB, you can personalize your academic experience through the MBA and MSx Communication programs, which offer courses, coaching, and tailored workshops to help you develop your communication skills.

Think Fast, Talk Smart: The Podcast

Matt Abrahams, lecturer of strategic communication, and experts from across campus discuss public speaking anxiety, speaking off the cuff, nailing a Q&A, and more.

Coaching

Communication coaching is offered to all MBA and MSx students. Coaches offer support on a broad range of communication topics including impromptu speaking, executive presence, personal narrative, storytelling, difficult conversations, anxiety management and public speaking. Students have the opportunity to co-design a coaching arc to meet their communication learning goals.

Programs

LOWkeynotes provides students the opportunity to develop and deliver a nine-minute presentation on an idea they believe is inline with the school’s mission – to change lives, organizations, and the world. Students deliver their final presentation to an audience of their peers, faculty, and staff, and their videos join the GSB’s LOWkeynotes YouTube playlist.

Communication workshops are offered throughout the year on topics that include engaging with the media, informal networking, moderating panels and fireside chats, managing anxiety, and impromptu speaking.
