LaFamilia Foundation
Organization
Founded in 2021, LaFamilia’s mission is to catalyze and cultivate a trusted Latine startup and venture capital ecosystem, with the aim of educating, increasing capital access, and building community. It has grown from five Latine VCs who were looking for a supportive community to now connecting more than 700 Latine entrepreneurs and 500 VCs. It provides matchmaking platforms and opportunities with vetted funders and business founders, fundraising support, education programs, mentoring, job postings, and community events. Founding CEO and Board Chair are GSB alums.
Issue
How can LaFamilia best expand and/or partner to increase funding for Latine entrepreneurs?
Situation
There are currently several organizations who are serving the Latine entrepreneurial community. Some are focused on parts of LaFamilia’s mission with possibly duplicative offerings. LaFamilia needs to understand the “competitive” landscape and prioritize areas of focus that it can uniquely impact. It wants to identify service gaps and potential opportunities to add or refine LaFamilia offerings. It does not want to invest in redundancy; instead it is eager to partner with complementary organizations to more effectively meet its community mission.
Project Overview
LaFamilia is requesting ACT’s help to evaluate the other nonprofit players in this evolving entrepreneurial community. The comprehensive mapping of the landscape will likely result in a summary matrix that not only identifies which organizations have offerings in each possible area of impact but also assesses the strength and quality of the offerings. In the detailed review of each player, the ACT team should consider recommending partnerships where there is opportunity to accelerate the community mission.
