Bahwan CyberTek in 2024 (A): Globalization from the Other Direction

By Sheila Melvin, Robert Burgelman
2024 | Case No. SM382A | Length 22 pgs.

Bahwan CyberTek was a privately held digital transformation solutions company based in Chennai, India, with operations in the United States, the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia. It had IT Services, Outsourcing and Digital Platform business lines and business units that encompassed its joint ventures. BCT actively entered collaborations, plugged its products around those of the customer, and even enabled competitors to run products on BCT platforms if doing so served the needs of the customer. The collaborative partnerships into which it entered, with companies like TIBCO and Temenos, were strategically planned to enable the company to deliver maximum value to its customers in different verticals, coupling the partner’s technology with BCT’s market access, value-added services, and domain expertise.

By 2024, BCT had revenue of $330 million, a figure that included revenue from Services, Products, and Joint Ventures. It had more than 1000 active customers and was growing at a rate of 32 percent each year. Maintaining its growth and thought leadership would require that it continue to innovate new products and services; creatively integrate existing technologies into its IP and service offerings; remain highly attuned to the needs of its customers; and stay ahead of the competition. It would necessitate continued development of new IP products in the verticals in which it operated; making, defining, and horizontally expanding to new markets; continued partnering and collaboration; and openness to new ways of unlocking value.
