We study the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in Chile, focusing on opportunities for task acceleration — specifically, the reduction of execution time for tasks within the hundred most common jobs in the country, corresponding to around 6 million workers, through the use of GenAI tools. The analysis relies on data from Workhelix, a U.S.-based company, which breaks down each job into a set of over 200,000 interdependent tasks. Each task is assigned a score between 0 and 1, reflecting the potential of GenAI to reduce its execution time without compromising quality (specifically, whether it can reduce completion time by at least 50%). Higher scores indicate greater potential for acceleration. These task-level scores are aggregated, weighting each task according to its relative importance in the job, measured by the number of hours spent per week, to calculate the “Acceleration Opportunity with Generative AI” for each job.
