Stanford Graduate School of Business has begun a year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of its founding.
Plans for commemorating the Centennial include regional events hosted by alumni throughout the United States, as well as in Hong Kong, Mexico City, and Paris; a website devoted to illuminating the school’s impact and history; a faculty-led celebration of scholarship in September; and an expanded alumni reunion on October 10, culminating with a celebratory event for the GSB community at Frost Amphitheater.
Stanford GSB opened on October 1, 1925. Established partly in response to the small number of business schools on the West Coast at the time, it grew from a handful of students in a small cluster of rooms to hundreds of students across its MBA, MSx, PhD, and executive education programs. It also became a major research institution, which today has more than 130 faculty in seven academic areas.
“We are excited to celebrate the profound, positive, and enduring influence the GSB has had on business and society for the last 100 years,” says Stanford GSB Interim Dean Peter DeMarzo. “Our Centennial also offers the chance to reflect on how we continue to provide people with the skills and insight to lead organizations and implement positive change in the world.“
